After-Dark Canoe Ride – Wildlife & Stargazing
Explore Garzacocha Lagoon under the stars. With the help of a spotlight, your guides will help you search for caimans, boas, bats, and night birds. On clear nights, this is also one of the best spots for stargazing in the Amazon.
Daytime Canoe Ride – Up-Close Wildlife Encounters
Glide silently across Garzacocha Lagoon by canoe and observe the Amazon’s rich biodiversity in action. This is one of the best ways to get close to birds, monkeys, and other animals in their natural habitat.
Chaguamango Trail – Monkeys and Water’s Edge
Starting at the lodge and ending at the edge of the lagoon, this trail offers great chances to see squirrel monkeys and other wildlife. Return to the lodge by canoe for a complete jungle circuit.
Charapa Trail – End-of-Day Wildlife Encounters
This longer trail also ends at the lagoon and is ideal for spotting mammals and birds that come down for water and food in the late afternoon. A peaceful and rewarding walk through the rainforest.
Observation Tower – A Canopy-Level Experience
Just 25 minutes from the lodge, our 40-meter-high Observation Tower offers panoramic views over the rainforest canopy. With top-of-the-line telescopes, spot toucans, parrots, vultures, and possibly even the majestic Harpy Eagle. Don’t forget your binoculars!
Sachahuagra or Tapir Trail – Walk Among Giants
This trail takes you through primary rainforest, home to the tallest and oldest trees around La Selva Lodge. It’s a place full of energy and awe—plus, you might be lucky enough to spot tapirs or other large mammals.

One of the highlights of any Amazon trip is meeting the indigenous communities who live in harmony with the rainforest. Mandi Cocha – Explore the Flooded Forest
