DETAILED OF ITINERARY

Your guided hike will acquaint you with the exuberant vegetation of the Cloud Forest, its bird life, and the fascinating adaptations to life in this special environment. Every hike reveals something new even for those of us who are fortunate enough to live in the forest every day!

Why Bellavista?

The cloud forest, whose correct name is subtropical or pre-montane rain forest, is located on the slopes of the Andean mountain range between 900 and 2,500 m.s. These forests are highly biodiverse, with abundant wildlife and plants, which have been little studied

The goal of the Reserve is to educate the public about the importance of biodiversity in tropical cloud forests and the growing importance of protecting these unique ecosystems. Bellavista and the Tandayapa Valley has more than 330 registered bird species ... and the list keeps growing! The Tanager-finch, covered in giant plush Tororoi, uropsalis segmentata, Finch, Bella Jay, and White-faced Nunbird are all here.

Birdwatchers and nature lovers thrill at the sight of the brightly colored fruit bowls and the Plate with Mountain Peak-Toucan, and everyone loves to simply sit on our four-story dome and admire the crowd of hummingbirds that haunt our feeders.

Mammals residents of Bellavista include the endangered spectacled bear, (recently captured by one of our "camera traps"), as well as the puma, the Andean coati and mate's head, and of course the newly discovered haze bassaricyon ! to name a few.
